Jenna S. Nolan Memorial Award Testimonials
I had the honor of knowing Jenna and being her JV soccer coach during her time at the middle school. She has left a lasting impact on my life and I think of her often. Her qualities of kindness, calmness, athleticism, being a positive influence to her peers, intelligence and selflessness are all brought out in Nate Mascoll. I have had the honor of knowing Nate dating back to his time at Fulmar Road Elementary School. I have not nominated students in every year that this award was presented but Nate embodies everything that Jenna stood for. He is kind to everyone, he is very intelligent, and he makes evervone feel important. Nate does not enter my classroom without saying hello or leave without saying goodbye. Those qualities are certainly noticeable. While excelling in the classroom and socially, Nate is also a gifted athlete just as Jenna was. Nate seems to have the maturity and responsibility to balance school, athletics and the social aspects of his life. I believe Nate would be an excellent choice for this honor.
Shawn McGee – Health Teacher
Nate is just like Jenna in many ways. He is a very kind person who says hello to everyone and anyone. I do not have Nate as a student but have come to know him this year and he does remind me of Jenna. He excels in academically which has put in the math and science accelerated classes as well as the National Junior Honor society. For his community services he wrote of 50 letters to people suffering with mental illness. He wanted to do this to gave them hope and encouragement. He also gave back to the community by helping coach MSA flag football. Nate excels in sports. I got the chance to see him play baseball which he made the Freshman team. He also does well in football. Parents and his teammates always speak about how athletic he is and just a well-rounded athlete. Many of his peers look up to him and always speak kindly about Nate. I have never heard anything negative about him just that he is a really good person. Nate is always smiling unless he is upset when someone he cares about is hurt. This is exactly how Jenna was. Always smiling unless a friend was upset. I can not think of a more deserving and perfect person for this award.
Nicole Liebowiz – Math Teacher
The teachers of Team 8D are consistently impressed by the overall character of Nathan Mascoll. He is that rare kid who goes out of his way to say a kind word or even just a simple hello to those quiet students who often do not engage with others readily.
